Despite of my explanations on the previous pages, some questions get frequently asked. You will find them summarized and answered in the following.

Where should I buy an animal? The best place to buy a Chameleon would be a breeder. He doesn't have to obey the market's rules so strongly, which means that he doesn't have to sell at any price, and has also made some practical experience with these animals.
As a beginner, is it more advisable to buy a male or female Chameleon? Males are usually more colourful and aren't at risk of being egg-bound like females.
How much do I have to feed? It is always better to give too little than overfeeding the animal.
I have never seen my Chameleon drinking any water, what can I do? Daily spraying with water usually covers the required amount of drinking water. Additionally one can give some water with the pipette.
While spraying some animals like to get underneath the jet of water to drink and shower. If your Chameleon likes to do that, you should make sure that the water has the right temperature.
My Chameleon's eyes are closed during the day, what could be the problem? A Chameleon whose eyes are closed during the day is definitely sick and needs to be examined by a specialized veterinarian.
My Chameleon has a darker colour than before. Why? Check and adjust your animals living conditions.
How can I tame my animal?

Chameleons are untameable but some animals get used to their owner and seem to be less shy than others.
Can a couple be kept together?

Only while mating and under the supervision of the owner! Apart from these occasions Chameleons must be kept in separate terrariums!
What about the use of a heating plate? Usually the lamp's heat is sufficient. A heating plate does not belong into a Chameleon's terrarium!
Which kind of supplements do I need to give? Calcium and vitamins
For how long do I have to illuminate the terrarium daily? Approximately 12 – 14 hours each day; a little less during the winter.
Which kind of light sources shall be used? HQI- or HQL-lamps, spotlight as local heat source. From time to time irradiation with Osram Vitalux.
