Furcifer Pardalis is a very active chameleon and because of its
aggressiveness you should keep it solitary. Despite of that
intervisibility witch
other Panther Chameleons (if kept in terrariums) is
possible. Although they usually live in bigger populations, Panther
Chameleons respect
their territories. Keeping them together
with other reptiles
should
be avoided, as smaller saurians
may be identified as food.
As Panther Chameleons belong to the biggest kind of
their species, the size of the terrariums should be suitable. For a
fully grown adult the measures shall be 60 x 60 x 120 cm (L x W x H)
at the least. To meet their immense need for fresh air, the typical
terrarium made of glass is completely inappropriate. A terrarium made
of wood with parts of gauze is more suitable and even cheaper. To
assist the circulation air, gauze on the sides and on top of the
terrarium is necessary. There is enough fresh air available if the water is almost
completely evaporated
.two hours after spraying.
For the bottom the optimal mixture is composed of turf and sand
and has
a
high of 15 – 20 cm. (The high is extremely important for
the
egg deposition).
