The ground colour of the male chameleon varies from blue grey to blue green. The vertical bars are slightly darker and barely noticeable. Often one can find a red dotted pattern. The lateral stripe is white and can stretch as far as to the cheeks. Lips and corners of the mouth are (as you can see on the picture) white, turning into yellow. The lids are red with a radial yellow ornament or vice versa.

The ground colour of the female varies from medium brown, bluish green to orangey yellow with darker horizontal stripes. The sides' colourranges from purple over brown, pink to blue. One can notice bluish scales at the cheeks, the lateral stripes are white.

The typical colour of gravid females is orange brown.
