The ground colour of the male chameleon varies from
blue grey to blue green. The vertical bars are slightly darker and
barely noticeable. Often one can find a red dotted pattern. The
lateral stripe is white and can stretch
as far as to the cheeks. Lips and
corners of the mouth are (as you can see on the picture) white,
turning into yellow. The lids are red with a radial yellow ornament or
vice versa.

The ground colour of the female varies from medium
brown, bluish green to orangey yellow with darker horizontal stripes.
The sides'
colourranges from purple over
brown, pink to blue. One can notice bluish scales at the cheeks, the
lateral stripes are white.

The typical colour of gravid females is orange
brown.
